CambridgeHOK have launched a new product to the UK horticultural market which allows growers to analyse nutrient levels in their irrigation systems on site – providing lab-quality results in less than two hours.
The system can revolutionise how growers maintain the ideal nutrient levels for their crops, helping optimise quality and yield whilst reducing waste.
CambridgeHOK has partnered with Dutch-based CE Water Solutions to be the exclusive UK supplier of the ‘CE-Line nutrient analyser’ system. Both companies are part of Atrium Agri, the largest collective horticultural engineering group in the world.
The technology provides automated, on-site, lab-quality irrigation water analysis, measuring concentrations of all macronutrients, enabling precise control over irrigation, fertilisation, and re-circulation processes.
It has been recognised for its potential positive impact across the sector at leading industry awards events, including winning the prestigious GreenTech Concept Award and the ‘Future-Proof Technologies’ Award at the Dutch Horticultural Entrepreneurs Awards.
Faster decisions to help keep crops healthy
Jonathan Kirkham, Technical Sales Manager at CambridgeHOK, says it is a product ideally suited to large commercial growers and research facilities, and particularly those with a large spend on assessing and managing nutrient levels.
“This technology provides growers with real-time insights, enabling them to make faster decisions to keep their crops healthy and their operations sustainable,” he said.
“At present it can be both labour and time intensive for growers to collect water samples from their irrigation systems, to send them to a lab and then wait a week or two for results.
“This is all time lost where crops are potentially not being supplied with the optimum levels of nutrient concentrations.
“CE-Line allows growers to identify nutritional accumulations or shortages within a couple of hours to optimise dosing, also helping to maximise recirculation systems, reducing the number of times they will need completely draining and changing.”
Samples meet highest standard
As part of the offer, the specialist team at CambridgeHOK will supply, install, and commission the CE-Line system, along with all ancillary components.
Customers are given access to a dedicated portal to receive real-time data, with the system able to be connected to existing climate management systems. Reagents are supplied and delivered as part of a dedicated support and service package.
The machine self-calibrates, self-cleans, and requires little manual input, providing data meeting ISO 17025 data quality standards.
Potential for full automation
Patrick Harte, joint managing director of Cambridge HOK, says the system offers potential for growers to add extra layers of automation into their processes.
“We are delighted to be introducing this product to the UK market, having already installed it successfully for some initial customers,” he said.
“Growers are always looking for new ways to streamline their processes and lower costs by removing laborious procedures. This level of automation and accuracy significantly enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, leading to higher crop yields and less waste,
“We see this product opening the door for further automation, where the CE-Line system is linked to an automated nutrient dosing process, to help optimise nutrient levels in irrigation systems around-the-clock.”
