Construction manager experienced in leading multi-million pound projects appointed

CambridgeHOK is delighted to announce the appointment of experienced commercial construction manager Steve Swallow.

Mr Swallow joins as General Manager of the construction division, taking over the reins from Louis Bradley following his recent step up to Joint Managing Director, having invested into the business as part of a recent takeover.

With more than 50 years’ combined experience across the team, CambridgeHOK’s construction department has overseen and delivered projects across the UK for the food, industrial, commercial, retail and logistics sectors.

It plans and builds all the firm’s large commercial glasshouse projects on behalf of clients, as well as many external portal frame developments and offices, with the majority of contracts ranging between £1m and £5m in value.

An experienced professional with an impressive commercial background, Mr Swallow has held senior positions, including as a Director, at several well-known local companies, and overseen many multi-million pound projects.

His career has included spells at construction company Hobson & Porter, glazing specialists EYG, where he was Commercial Director, and latterly mechanical and electrical firm Tucker Mechanical & Electrical Building Services.

Career has brought experience in many different construction disciplines

Mr Bradley said: “We are delighted to have added somebody of Steve’s experience to our team to lead the construction side of the business.

“Given the roles he has held at a number of successful companies over the past 20 years, Steve brings knowledge of many different construction disciplines, from quantity surveying to major glazing installations.

“His appointment comes at a time of great opportunity for our construction business to grow further given the strong performance of our business in glasshouses and garden centre developments, and with extra opportunities expected to arise from us recently becoming part of the global Atrium Agri consortium of specialist horticultural businesses.

“I know Steve is commercially astute and a man for detail. Having established a high-quality team in our construction department in recent years, we are confident he will ensure we maintain our momentum and secure more work externally, alongside that which supports our other business activities.”

Mr Swallow said: “I am delighted to be joining a firm of CambridgeHOK’s quality.

“I have always welcomed new challenges and opportunities to learn within the construction industry and CambridgeHOK is a company I have admired for some time given the high-quality projects it has been involved in and the excellent reputation it has established. That reputation has been enhanced over the past 18 months in particular.

“I’ve known Louis a long time, so when he approached me to consider this role after investing into the business himself recently, I saw it as a great opportunity and one too good to turn down.

“There is a really experienced and talented team already in place here and I am looking forward to developing strong relationships with clients and suppliers and hopefully building on the recent success enjoyed.”
