• Install 8,000sqm horticultural LED lighting system
• Upgrade on-site electrical transformer
• Connect LEDs to Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system

• Program lights to start automatically in low natural light

The solution:

To provide a perfect year-round growing environment for tomatoes, our engineers installed more than 1,000 energy-efficient LED lights specially designed for horticultural use.

Designed to turn on automatically when there is a lack of natural light, Flavourfresh can now produce thousands more home-grown tomatoes between November and February, outside the natural growing season.

Thanks to our help and expertise, the sophisticated lighting set-up is powered by a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system to improve energy efficiency and minimise carbon emissions.

From order to being fully operational, we completed this project in just eight weeks – allowing Flavourfresh to meet their national customer’s order demands.

The benefits for our client:

Since opening in 1997, Flavourfresh has specialised in growing strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and tomatoes under 17.3 hectares of glass across four sites.

This investment means they now operate a year-round tomato growing facility, enjoys bigger and better-quality yields that have driven up profitability.
