GrowUp Urban Farm

London’s first commercial aquaponic urban farm.

Working with GrowUp Urban Farms CambridgeHOK has developed climatic control, air flow management and building management systems using vertical growing technologies and specialist horticultural Philips LED lighting.

As part of our climatic control system we have developed an energy efficient system using free air cooling which reduces the amount of mechanical cooling needed. The system also provides a level of climatic control to the Aquaponics area. Airflow to each shelf level is by a specially designed air distribution duct to ensure even airflow at the perfect velocity for plant growth.

Continuing to boost the development of urban farms, GrowUp Urban Farms is London’s first commercial Aquaponic Urban Farm – a commercial urban farm using aquaponics to produce sustainable salads and fish for the local market – and is the first of its kind in the UK. Aquaculture combines two well-established farming practices; aquaculture (farming fish) and hydroponics (growing plants in a nutrient solution without soil.) With the first harvest expected in September this is an exciting venture that is a flagship for innovative urban farming, and CambridgeHOK is very proud to have been a part of it.
